For the seeds you almost didn't plant.

The bird you almost didn't notice.

The corner of the yard going a little wild.

There's a certain quiet at the edge of things,  where the yard meets the woods, where something planted becomes something living.

This is where the slow return starts.

Wing & Hollow is a space for backyard naturalists who believe the best wildlife encounters happen just outside the back door. Visit us for weekly posts on birds, habitat, and the small wonders we encounter.

Why Wing & Hollow Exists

My family and I live at the edge of the woods.

My great grandmother used to feed birds from a wide wooden fly through platform feeder. Something homemade, something simple, steady, and always bringing some type of critter.

I’m building that again.

Wing & Hollow is a small part of that return,
seeds, space, and a reason for things to come back to a beloved place.

A Small Place to Begin

Most of what I’m doing here starts small.

A patch of ground left a little wilder.

A few plants that weren’t here before.

A feeder going up where there wasn’t one.

If you’re starting where I started, one small change is enough. You don’t need much space. You don’t need to get it perfect. Just something planted, and a willingness to see what comes.
